K-6 Program Model
The Girl Scout Challenge is a new set of awards for Brownies, Juniors and GS 11-17. These awards are part of a national effort to create a consistent, national Girl Scout experience. The awards unite girls across the country by age level, engaging them in similar learning experiences.
When girls take THE CHALLENGE, they explore some of the values and leadership skills that are at the very heart of Girl Scouting: courage, character, confidence and the ability and desire to make the world a better place.
Each K-6 program will target one of the 3 C’s. They will get a stamp in their “Challenge Tracker” when they complete a GS Challenge activity.
At the end of the year, girls will have had the opportunity to complete all required activities towards their level GS Challenge level and can purchase the GS Challenge from the council store.
GS 11-17 (Teen) Program ModelThe Girl Scout Leadership model challenges Girl Scouts 11-17 to discover, lead and take action. In 2006 and 2007, our focus is to connect all teen programs back to leadership. This year, use your troop activities and council programming options to develop a well-rounded leadership program.
Your challenge: attend one program from each of the five focus categories. Then, after completing all five, you will receive a leadership certificate at the Teen Banquet in May. AND, every time you participate in a program, you will be entered to win a monthly giveaway for fun, inspirational prizes. This leadership model and certificate program replaces teen scene leader points.
Career Exploration: Girls explore opportunities and ideas that will aid them in future career
