Summer camp can be an amazing, one-of-a-kind experience for our girls. The right camp program can enhance her development and help her gain important social skills, a sense of independence, new physical competencies and an appreciation of our interdependence with the natural world. Here are five reasons why Camp Sacajawea is the right camp for your girls:
1. Camp Sacajawea is a place where girls can be themselves and try new things in a safe and caring environment.
2. Children need to spend time outdoors, practicing social and decision-making skills that are new to them, while being inspired by “heroes” - community members, parent volunteers and camp staff.
3. Our camp is different from others because we focus on healthy menus for meals, giving the girls time to express themselves, doing activities that they don’t get to try anywhere else, and focusing our programs on addressing cutting edge issues that are important to the lives of girls today. We also use girl-input when creating the summer’s camp programs and many of the programs have been created with ideas from campers.
4. Our campers love Camp Sacajawea so much! We have continuously returning campers, summer after summer. And, when they are old enough, they are able to progress and enhance their leadership skills by becoming junior counselors and teen staff.
5. Girls continually report that while attending Camp Sacajawea they develop life skills like teamwork, self-reliance, social skills, self competence, and respect.
Financial Assistance
We strive to keep our camp sessions affordable, but paying for camp can be a challenge for any family. Girl Scouts and our caring donors believe that every girl deserves an opportunity to have fun and develop strong self-esteem, self-reliance, leadership abilities, and teamwork skills at our summer camp. They have provided the funds for assistance for families in need. The Financial Assistance (campership) form is on page 23 of the camp guide.
