Whether you're a girl or an adult, there's something for you in Girl Scouts!
Keep reading or contact us and we'll help you explore the possibilities!

Whether you'd like to become an adult volunteer, girl member of a Girl Scout troop or individual girl member , there are many ways for you to participate in Girl Scouts.

Our members include girls and adults in traditional troops, special interest groups that share specific interest such as sports, literature, adventure, Campus Girl Scouts or our Girl Scout Alumni – who might get together less frequently, but have just as much fun as our troop members.

All participation options in Girl Scouting are designed to meet the needs of today’s girls and adult volunteers!

Why Join Girl Scouting?
Self-confidence, responsibility, integrity, decisiveness and teamwork-these are the skills of a great leader. And these are the skill that today’s girls are learning in Girl Scouts as they grow strong in body, mind, and spirit.

As the largest organization for girls in the world, Girl Scouts is the leading authority and advocate for girls. For 90 years, Girl Scouts has helped girls develop the skills they need to meet the challenges of a constantly changing world. Now, more than ever, girls can benefit from the values and mission of Girl Scouts.

The Girl Scout program still includes traditional activities like camping, selling cookies and performing community service, but with a new twist. Girls don’t just camp anymore, they go rock climbing, backpacking, white water rafting, and navigate rope courses. Girls don’t just sell cookies; they learn important life skills such as communications, goal setting, money-management, marketing, sales and teamwork.

Why volunteer with Girl Scouts?
Volunteers are Girl Scouting's most valuable resource! For girls to benefit from Girl Scouting, they need the guidance of concerned, caring adults. Adults like you! For some volunteers, that guidance may be given through working directly with girls throughout the year. For others, it may be to lend expertise for a specific short-term project or event. No matter what avenue of volunteering you take, the benefits will be bountiful for both the girls and for you as a volunteer.

In Girl Scouting, we realize that today’s busy adults may not be able to make long-term volunteer commitments. That is why we offer flexible options to anyone interested in the development of young girls. Whether it’s once a week, once a month, or once a year, your efforts will make a difference.

The Girl Scouts of Woodland Council works with men and women to match skills, willingness and available time (no matter how small) to an appropriate volunteer role. In most cases, no experience is required and some positions have required training. We also provide a number of adult development courses that you may select.
