What are council-sponsored programs?
Council-sponsored programs are designed and sponsored by Woodland Council for one or more specified program level and is open to ALL girls throughout Woodland Council. All girls - whether registered Girl Scouts or not*, whether in a troop or not - are invited & encouraged to participate incouncil-sponsored programs as an opportunity to interact with a broad range of girls who represent the wonderful diversity we celebrate across central Wisconsin.
What can you expect from a council-sponsored program?
Activities that are BY girls, FOR girls and ABOUT girls (and young women)!
Traditional, fun Girl Scout activities like games, sing-a-longs, crafts and community service
Contemporary, exciting Girl Scout activities like sports, computers, cultural understanding, and career exploration
A safe, supportive, all-girl environment
FUN, FUN, FUN!
Program Booklets
A program booklet is mailed to all registered girls and adults. Additional booklets can be requested from the Service Center.Chaperones and Payment
All girls must be accompanied by an adult at council-sponsored, unless otherwise noted. Girl/adult ratios must meet Safety-Wise standards at all times. Family involvement is encouraged. Girls can sign up individually or with troops. Juliettes (Individually Registered Girls) are encouraged to attend council programs with their parents or nearby troop. If a cost is "cost per participant," chaperones must pay. If cost is "cost per girl," chaperones do not pay. Permission slips and health history forms are the responsibility of the chaperone.Tag-a-Longs
A "tag-a-long" is any child attending an event who is not registered as a Girl Scout or who is a Girl Scout from a different age group than that for which the program is designed. Tag-a-longs impact the program, adult-to-girl ratios, and can affect the overall experience and environment for other participants. Please, no tag-a-longs at council programs. (This does not apply to events appropriate for families as indicated in individual event descriptions.) Please discuss this issue with the event chair if there are questions.Registration Procedure
No one will be denied admission to any program event because of race, color, ethnicity, creed, national origin, socio-economic status, or disability.
*Girls who are not members of Girl Scouts must pay an additional $10 fee and complete additional paperwork for required activity insurance.
Choose one or more programs that fit your age and interests. Use one form for each program. Fill out the registration form completely.
Mail the completed registration form and fees to Girl Scouts of Woodland Council, 3910 Chestnut St., Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494. Make checks and money orders payable to Girl Scouts of Woodland Council.
All registrations must be mailed, not walked in. Registrations cannot be taken over the phone.
Some programs have no "opening dates." They are marked with a (*) in the program booklet.
After the opening date, registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registrations must be turned in before the registration deadline.
Follow the information on each program listing for the deadline to register.
Refunds
Full refunds will be made only if a participant cannot be placed in a program of choice or if it is necessary to cancel a program. Full refunds may also be made in the case of family or medical emergency.
Cookie Dough
Cookie Dough can be used for council-sponsored programs. Cookie Dough cannot be used for out-of-council programs. Cookie credits from other councils will not be accepted. To use Cookie Dough, attach credits to the registration form.Financial Assistance
Opportunity funds (financial assistance) are available to all registered members for all events. To apply for assistance, enclose a completed Opportunity Fund application with your registration. Opportunity funds are part of Girl Scouts of Woodland Council's operating budget and are awarded by a committee of volunteers.
Confirmation
All registrants will receive a postcard confirming their acceptance in the event or informing them that the event is full. Postcards will be mailed immediately after the registration is received. For weekend events, an equipment list will follow.
